This European standard describes the type test assessment method for acoustic signals at passenger external doors applying to rolling stock. The following applies to this standard: - this standard refers to acoustical passenger information indicating the release, opening and closing of passenger doors; - this standard is applicable to tonal signals with defined frequency components; - this standard is not applicable to spoken information. NOTE 1 Acoustic door signals in terms of TSI compliance are defined in EN 16584-2 "Design for PRM use". NOTE 2 Acoustic doors signals in terms of door system function are described in EN 14752.

This European Standard specifies the interface requirements for controlled emission toilet equipment on railway vehicles and the infrastructure, including catering area sink waste retention tanks. Vehicle and infrastructure specific requirements are also given. The European Standard includes fixed and portable infrastructure equipment used to empty retention tanks, but excludes equipment fitted to railway vehicles where no fixed connections are used between vehicle and infrastructure.

This document establishes requirements, test procedures, assessment methods and acceptance criteria for aerodynamics in tunnels and rolling stock in tunnels. Topics of aerodynamic pressures and loadings, aerodynamic resistance and micro-pressure waves are addressed. Requirements for rolling stock with operating speeds equal to or above 200 km/h are provided for pressures generated in tunnel operation. Requirements for infrastructure with design speeds above 160 km/h or high blockage ratio or tunnels longer than 12 km are provided for pressures generated in tunnel operation. These requirements are not applicable to light rail and urban rail. This document is applicable to all railway vehicles and infrastructure with track gauges from 1 435 mm to 1 668 mm inclusive.

This European Standard defines a set of reference masses for specifying the requirements for the design, testing, acceptance, marking, delivery and operation of rail vehicles. The reference masses defined in this document are as follows: - dead mass; - design mass in working order; - design mass under normal payload; - design mass under exceptional payload; - operational mass in working order; - operational mass under normal payload. These reference masses are defined with respect to the whole vehicle, but they can also apply to a specific system or component. The specification of values for tolerances applicable to reference masses is not in the scope of this standard. Tolerances can be required by an application standard. Additional loadings due to environmental factors, for example snow and retained or absorbed rainwater, are not in the scope of this European Standard.
